Holiday Jubilate
With The Prairie School
You won’t want to miss the Racine premiere of John Rutter’s
beautiful Mass of the Children. Written in 2003, the inaugural
performance received rave reviews. Those who know Rutter’s
memorable tunes and glorious orchestrations will be first in line
for this presentation. Added to his masterful writing for adult choir,
soloists and orchestra, is the children’s choir. The young singers
convey the progression from waking to sleeping that runs through
the work. The tragic death of Rutter’s son in 2001 stopped his string
of new compositions for two years. Ironically, this work may also
have been the cathartic outburst of his grief – reaffirming life and
celebrating children. The CAS will be joined by The Prairie School,
Patricia Badger, Performing Arts Chair. Student musicians, from
3rd grade through high school, will add the youthful exuberance
that Rutter envisioned. Seasonal Carols of Austria and Poland will
further enrich this wonderful holiday offering.
Come rejoice with us in the true spirit of the holidays.
